Ryder Logistics expanding Fort Worth facilities, to add more than 200 jobs

Ryder Integrated Logistics Inc. is expanding its facilities in Fort Worth, creating more than 200 jobs with a capital investment of more than $5.2 million, the governor’s office announced Wednesday. A TEF grant offer of $1,050,000 has been extended to Ryder.

Gov. Greg Abbott today announced that Ryder Integrated Logistics Inc. will be expanding its facilities in Fort Worth to support its supply management, logistics, and transportation management operations. Ryder is a Fortune 500 transportation and supply chain management company that services more than 50,000 manufacturers and retailers nationwide. In 2000, the company opened a 42,200-square-foot facility at 13599 Park Vista Blvd. The expansion will add 25,500 square feet to meet growing demand. “Texas continues to expand its presence on the global economic stage thanks to the growth of businesses like Ryder right here in the Lone Star State,” said Abbott.

Paris - Amcor opens $7 million plant

Amcor Rigid Plastics is opening an on-site bottle-making operation in Paris, Texas, a move that will allow it to cut freight costs and improve operational efficiencies.

The new facility at a Campbell Soup Co. site in Paris, Texas, is capable of producing about 50 million hot-fill PET bottles each year for the company's V8 brand of drinks.
Amcor Rigid Plastics, based in Ann Arbor, Mich., spent $7 million to create the bottle-making operation in 6,000 square feet of existing space to produce both 46- and 64-ounce containers for various V8 products, the packaging company said.
"We're excited about establishing this on-site operation because it expands our long-time strategic partnership with Campbell and gives us an opportunity to better serve a key strategic customer," said Larry Weber, vice president and general manager of Amcor's North American beverage business unit, in a statement.

D-FW cranks out another 119,000 new jobs

North Texas' job-making machine is still running at full speed ahead.

More than 119,000 new jobs were added in the Dallas-Fort Worth area during the 12-month period ending in February. The total employment base in North Texas grew by about 3.5 percent.
That's second only to the New York City metro area for total employment gains during the year, according to the latest data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
D-FW's employment market has been growing by more than 100,000 new jobs a year for the last few years.

Furniture retailer to build new $65M distribution hub in Mesquite

A Wisconsin-based furniture retailer — Ashley Furniture Industries Inc. — plans to build a $65 million, 850,000-square-foot regional distribution hub in Mesquite, which will add nearly 350 full-time employees to the region.

The new development will sit on a 358-acre tract of land at the eastern part of Mesquite at 3790 Faithon P. Lucas Sr. Blvd.
"Economic development and job creation are two of the city council's top policy issues," said Mayor Stan Pickett, in a statement.
"We could not be more proud and excited that Ashley Furniture Industries Inc. has chosen the Mesquite community to call home for their next distribution and fulfillment facility," he added. 
The new distribution hub is expected to house $50 million of business personal property, according to city documents. In all, the facility will add 347 workers with an average salary of $43,577 plus benefits.

Grapevine, Texas - Governor Abbott Attends Ribbon Cutting For New Kubota Tractor Corporation North American Headquarters

Governor Greg Abbott attended and delivered remarks at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Kubota Tractor Corporation North American headquarters. The headquarters is relocating from Torrance, California to Grapevine, Texas. The new facility is expected to create more than 340 new jobs and generate $51 million in capital investment. 

“Kubota is the model business partner,” said Governor Abbott. “The new headquarters not only stands as a symbol for their hard work up to this moment, but also for the solid foundation for which they’re able to continue building for a prosperous future here in Texas. We are proud that job-creating industry leaders like Kubota are calling Texas home, and thank them for their confidence in the Lone Star State.”
Kubota Tractor Corporation is the latest business to relocate from California to Texas, and Kubota previously announced the move would better position the company for long-term sustainable growth. Kubota has been one of the largest tractor producers in the United States since 1969.

CEOs love Texas: State retains top spot in ranking of best places for business

Texas has built up quite a reputation with CEOs around the nation who have ranked it the No. 1 state for business in Chief Executive magazine’s latest annual list of the Best & Worst States for Business.

It is the 13th consecutive year that Texas has secured the top honor. The new survey also ranks states in several individual categories and Texas performed well in several. Texas took the top spot in five categories: Technology, retail, energy, manufacturing and financial services. It ranked No. 2, trailing only Florida, in both health care and pharmaceuticals/medical products.

Governor Abbott Welcomes Boeing's New Global Services Headquarters to Plano

Governor Greg Abbott today welcomed the new Boeing Global Services (BGS) headquarters to Texas. Boeing already employs more than 4,000 employees in the state and has major sites in Houston, San Antonio and the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The BGS site will be located in Legacy West in the Plano area and will house BGS leadership as well as support staff and will serve as the central hub for 20,000 employees around the world.

“Texas continues to be a global powerhouse in business expansion and relocation because of our economic policies that encourage industry leaders, like Boeing, to expand their operations here,” said Texas Governor Greg Abbott. “As Governor, I will continue to promote a low-tax and reasonable regulatory environment that removes barriers to entry and provides certainty for businesses. I am proud to welcome Boeing’s new Global Services unit to Texas and look forward to working with them further to continue their expansion in the Lone Star State.”

International Equipment Firm Heads to Hutchins with New Operation

An international electrical and energy industry equipment firm is locating a major distribution center in southern Dallas County.

Pentair Technical Products Inc. has rented 166,420 square feet of industrial space in Hutchins in the PointSouth Logistics & Commerce Centre.
Pentair will use the facility as a regional distribution center, with its location near the Union Pacific Railway intermodal terminal and FedEx's shipping hub on Interstate 45.  The city of Hutchins provided incentives to land the deal.
"It's a new deal to the market — they are not in the D-FW area right now," said Al Sorrels, partner with building developer Majestic Realty Co. "They'll occupy about the end of year."

Texas Wins 2016 Site Selection’s Governor’s Cup Award For Record Fifth Year In A Row

The State of Texas has won Site Selection’s 2016 Governor’s Cup, an award that is given annually to the top performing state for capital investment and job creation. In 2016, Texas finished with 642 business relocations or expansions. This is the fifth year in a row, and the eighth year since 2004, that Texas has won the award.

“Texas’ economic climate, best-in-class workforce and entrepreneurial resilience has once again made the Lone Star State the top destination for capital investment, and I am proud to accept this award on behalf of the men and women who have made our state the beacon of economic opportunity in the United States,” said Governor Abbott. “I look forward to continuing the Texas tradition of winning this award again next year.”

Medline Industries Opens Wilmer Distribution Center

WILMER, TX — Medline Industries Inc., the largest privately held manufacturer and distributor of medical products, has officially opened an 800,000 square foot distribution center in Wilmer, Texas – 15 miles south of downtown Dallas.  The $59M facility at Medline Drive and Interstate-45 in Sunridge Business Park currently employs 55 people. 

“Medline is an excellent corporate citizen in communities where it has facilities,” said Wilmer Economic Development Executive Director David Miracle, CEcD.  “The company is actively involved in community volunteering, and has hired veterans and others who might be otherwise overlooked.”
